DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TELEPHONE SYSTEMS FROM NORMAL TELEPHONE

Updated: Jul 25, 2023

TELEPHONE SYSTEMS

Every businesses owner whether small scale business owners or large scale business owners are making do with the business phone systems in running their business operations. This is because there are several amazing benefits the business telephone system does for businesses. I want to be more concise in this write up because many people do not really understand the concept of the business telephone systems means and how it works. The business telephone systems is a system that allows multiple telephones to be used in a business in an interconnected manner that makes it possible for conference calls, call metering and accounting, call handling and call transferring, private and shared voice message boxes etc to be carried out. It can be as simple as a few numbers of telephones in a small business or complicated as a private branch exchange system in big businesses.

The business telephone system greatly differs in operations from the normal telephones system. Unlike the business telephone system that is typically used in business environments, the normal telephone is the traditional method of making calls. Apart from the mode of operations, these two telephone systems have a wide difference in their call features, calling abilities and the number of phones required. Even a blind man can testify to the fact that there are significant differences in the phones used for business operations and that used for personal operation. The followings subheadings are the differences between a telephone system and the regular telephones used for personal use.

Cost: It is so glaring that business telephone systems are more expensive than traditional landlines. This is due to the complexity of the system and the many functions it carries out. The cost of any business telephone system varies depending on their sophistication, its provider and their system.

Mode of communication: In the business telephone system and the normal telephones, the sound waves travel in different ways. The sound waves in that of the business telephone system travel through a digital form that is then transmitted through a wireless or a wired media. This is not so in the traditional telephones rather the data travels through analog signals using twisted cable pairs in which their frequency and altitude keeps changing. The changing frequencies and altitudes are then later decoded at the receiving end thus allowing communication to take place.

Different physical appearances; the structure of these two devices varies big time. The business telephone system is a handset that does come with a dial pad and converters that are used to install the voice data to the digital data and vice versa. It also comes with a USB port that allows the connection of the phone to a computer alongside a wireless connection that receives and sends data through the internet. In the normal telephone system, its structural features are a dial pad, a front and a rare camera accompanied by a flash, a USB port, a transmitter and a hybrid coil.

Connectivity functions: The normal telephone does not require a high internet connection before long-distance calls can be placed, unlike the business telephone system that cannot make calls to long distances except there is availability of a high internet connection. Business telephone systems do not easily get internet connections like normal telephones. The need for an external power source in the business telephone systems also clearly differentiates the normal telephone system that can still work when knocked out and needed for emergency cases.

Calling with any devices: This is a big difference between the business telephone system and the normal telephone system. The VOIP number given is not tied to a physical location. By this statement, it implies that the number can be used in any part of the world provided there is an internet connection. This assigned number can be used to make calls and receive calls with any compatible device. It does not have to be used only by the VOIP phones. You can use the number to place calls from the desk phones, the computer, the mobile phones and the tablets. This is what the regular telephone cannot do and the numbers do have a physical location it operates.
